I would not do that. Firstly because I use a block on my jib clew to do a 2:1 sheeting. secondly it would be a faff disconnecting it& reconnecting & tying the Sail with a tie. Leaning over the pulpit trying to threadle through a block & back to the asymetric sail. It would delay setting the jib & involve unnecessary deck work. Not required when SH Third it would mean I could not set the jib prior to dropping the sail & the asym might go round the forstay, which has happened more than a few times in the past 50 years. Fourth I sheet the jib in tight when furled & the sheet gives me something to hold on to. I have a long tack line which runs very free, unlike the jib sheet. It doubles up as a barber hauler because I have a low friction ring with a snap shackle spliced on that just sits on the line ready for use. It can be led aft & clipped to the gunwale & the end taken up to the ST clew It can then be trimmed from the cockpit. So it doubles up its use. I find this far tidier than the solution oft touted by Martin & Rene. I can clip it to clew, sheet or car & adjust independantly of the jibsheet from the cockpit But I do not use a snuffer as I sail single handed so a snuffer would be too dangerous. I hoist the asym from the bag on the deck whilst standing in the cockpit where I can control sheet, tack & halyard. I prefer to just drop the asym under the boom from the cockpit & stuff it down the hatch where I can bag it at leisure & in safety.
