So I installed a new B&G NAC-3 Autopilot Controller and I was going through the setup and the computer needed the rudder angle at port and starboard lock position.  Sure this is not too hard to assess when the boat is out of the water, but mine is in and I cannot see the rudder very well due to lots of debris in the water around me.

Just to get started I put in 45 deg.  but I am hoping that someone out there knows what angle the rudder is at when at full lock to one side.

If you know then please reply.  otherwise I'll leave it at 45 until I get clearer and warmer water.

good morning to you

On my 415, removal of the covering case over the rudder reveals the self steering components and the angle could be determined accurately by observation of the movement of the helm from side to side - perhaps it is the same on your 400?

Great Idea there Yeoey.  I'll pull off the cover for the emergency tiller and take a look.

Edited:  For the record, 2007 Hanse 430e.  35 degrees off center at full lock.  Eyeballed with my nav protractor.
