Hi all

I have to replace the sheet rail of main from my Hanse 371. Does anyone knows where to order the sheet rail or who is the manufacuter of it?

Please see attachment, in case that I'm using wrong term and what I mean by sheet rail.

Thanks

Juissi

The sheet rail/main traveller supplied by Hanse is too weak. Some members have changed to a sturdier model, but I have changed to the same system that Hanse has used since 2009.
There are more posts about this, but muy patience expired. A moderator should acknowledge, that
the world has moved, and that the price of digital storage space has lowered a lot.
I searched my own posts, but could only get the last 100.  As I have mentioned before, the Grand Poobah (Admiral of The Fleet) of this forum has made almost 4000 posts, so for Heavens sake let us get the possibility of seeing 4000 results. A post from 2006 still may be of value in 2020. Moderator please WAKE UP!!!!

If you choose to keep your main traveller system, you can buy a stronger system:

Hi Juissi,

The brandname is Pfeiffer Marine in Germany. But you may take a look at the Brand Garhauer. Look stunning and strong but less expensive than Harken.

In my message above, I state that the mainsheet traveller mounted by Hanse is underdimensioned. On my 400 in heavy weather I experienced a shackle being torn apart, and the whole system collapsing. As I recall, the traveller was a Harken, but way too weak. If you are in doubt about my system (which is installed on all Hanses since 2009), you can temporary mount two blocks in the ends of your traveller, and test, if the system works for you. As mentioned in one of the links above, the over-dimensioned (a rare thing from the Hanse Yard!) Vang/Kicking strap/Boom Kick is sufficient to keep the boom down. The picture above shows the routing of the halyard.
