I never understood why Hanse wanted to have the main station (CX44) on deck and the small DX34 at the navstation. What happens if the chip is stolen? No insurance will pay you unless you always take it away when you go off the boat. What a nuissance! It is also a lot more exposed to weather conditions. Although the yacht chandler of Wendel&Rados at Greifswald opposed my idea I insisted on a solution of the main plotter CX 44 at the navstation and the sister DX 44 on deck. And I didn't want to lose the right cupboard above the navstation as it was proposed by Hanse. It costed me a few bucks more but it was really worth the money, don't you think so?

Thomi,
I personally use the station at the helm much more often than the navstation. I've found that wherever the "slave" unit is, there is a very noticable delay in responding to input. I don't want that delay while I'm at the helm trying to make a decision. Therefore, I've specified that the Master station be at the helm on my Hanse. Very pleased with it. Your point about the memory being stolen is certainly valid. I just take it out...
I guess it just depends on what's important to each of us....  Wink
