almost certainly of the paddle wheel variety unless an original owner swapped it or specc’d differently

My 2015 385 (built Dec 2014) had an Airmar DST800 which has a paddlewheel. Pretty sure this would be the standard equipment.

Agree. My 2012 415 has the DST800 speed, depth and temp sensor.

The acoustic log instrument looks like a great idea, no more need for regular removal and cleaning of the paddle wheel. Airmar have one on their web site. Has anyone fitted one of these units, and do they interface with the Band G equipment without issues?

Airmar had a lot of problems bringing this to market and I think this is their second attempt. I looked into it some time ago as the previous boat suffered a lot with a fouled impeller (strangely its never happened on the 418 despite being moored in the same water). When I looked at it the price was astronomical. I believe NASA (A UK brand) have their own variation which is a lot cheaper but does require some kind of signal conversion box I think

Thanks. The flapper valve on Beathe’s log has failed, so I have an internal fountain every time I clean the log. I need to change out the holder. Boat is next out of the water around October this year so I will have a look at the options. Regards Gordon
