I have today come to my boat, switched on shore power and the Serling Battery Charger is making a noise like its fan is on. It is on for around 5 mi utes and then switches off for a minute and then back on again.

I was onboard 2 weeks ago and it was fine.

Any thoughts please? Electrics are not my thing!!

Cheers

Mark

Yes, there is a fan that activates itself when needed.

Take a look to this thread: https://myhanse.com/disappeared-12v-help-needed_topic11907.html (Disappeared 12 V - help needed). At my post 21 May 2020 there is a simple solution how to improve ventilation of the battery charger on a Hanse 320.

The picture was taken without cushions, normally the compartment is covered, and isolated, with them.

The H370 and H400 were (in 2006) delivered with the Sterling Pro Charge Digital 50A charger.
The two fans starts up, when the charger gets warm. This happens, when the charging current is high, like 40-45A. After a while without shorepower this is normal. Read the manual.
I have replaced the 50A (after a lightning stroke) with the Pro Charge Ultra 60A. On this model the fans also starts up now and then.

thank you for your replies. I have not experienced this overheating of the charger before when attaching shorepower. I believe my batteries may be the issue. I have turned off my 12v service, kept the shore power on and it seems to have charged the batteries and taken the pressure off the charger.

Today I will try and check the batteries with a
