Our gas spring on the bathing (swimming) platform broke for the 3rd time within 2 years. Does anyone had the same problems and have a good solution?

Hi Bob,
Yes ours was useless too, replaced a few times in its first year. We gave up and applied this simple yet effective main sheet system on our 505. For us it’s a good solution. Kate |

In what way did it break? The ballpoint fittings top and bottom unscrewed a couple of times so last time I applied Locktite and haven’t had a problem for a year now. New strut from Hanse is about 200€ plus shipping. I was quoted 400€ by the manufacturer!

our ball come unscrewed but we had it re threaded and put back on, fine since but we use a similar system to Kate to avoid stress on the strut

Looks like my gas strut has failed as well. Lifting the platform without it shows just how heavy the platform is!
Refuse to pay the manufacturer price so Im going to see if I can source one. However, I'll be looking at using two smaller struts rather than one large one. In the meantime a simple pulley works very well. Mike

Keeping it simple. I think this is the best solution even with a functioning strut.

There is only on one side a metal plate inside the platform so you can’t fix a gas spring to the other side. We tried that but it just pulled out

Thanks Bob. I suspect a little more engineering will be needed!
