A quick warning for those of you with the 575 TV lift in the saloon. Turning on the TV the other day, we noticed sparks flying from the lift as it was coming up. After turning off the power and taking a quick look, it was obvious that the coiled power cord that moves with the lift had completely disintegrated. Bare wires were exposed along the length of the coil and sparks would fly when it contacted the metal frame of the lift. I feel lucky that we saw this as it was coming up rather than going down — I can imagine a fire might have started given that it’s a big piece of shorting metal inside a wooden box. We have temporary replaced it with marine grade wire so that we could bring the TV down and will be looking to get a permanent replacement to the coil. For reference, this happened on a 575 from 2015 with a VENSET TS750 lift.
