Alain, Yes a number seem to be having problems uploading pictures, i myself did, i tried many times deleting my cookies, etc, and after many weeks it deceided to work.

Thanks for the response. My rig was destroyed in a recent hurricane in Northeast U.S.. With the new rig I intend on adding an inner forestay. Therefor, I am very interested in your experience with this installation. Are you content with its perofrmance? If you get the opportunity I would really like to know the exact measurement of where it is attached on the mast. I presume the check stays are attached at this same height? Any other advice you are willing to offer is greatly appreciated.
Also, it appears you have done some extensive ocean sailing with Uhambo. How did she perform over all? Are there particular upgades which you have made or that you feel should be made?

Hi VCP,
I am very happy with the inner forestay and the 15m2 stay-sail which uses the selftailing system in place. I have also a 13m2 try-sail which is fitted on a separate rail on the mast. The runners are made in vectran, and the inner forestay is made of dyneema. I Will send you the measurements as soon as i am back on board late in December. We are very happy with Uhambo; she performs very well in any conditions we encountered-up to 55knt when sailing and 70knt on mooring. She motored very well also as we needed when sailing the Chilean Channels! We we able to make a reasonable 165-170NM a day in open sea, with some good days at 195-200. Very easy to handle, the two of us. She also needs to reduce sail as soon you feel you have to do it, and not waiting for the next hours, otherwise you could find yourself desperately looking for the brakes of your boat, surfing at more than 15knt, with the main up and gale force wind behind your ears. Upgrades I would recommend for such a trip, are stay-sail, runners, three reefs and a try-sail, all your ropes in dyneema and a very serious mast tuning (refer to the Selden Mast manual) and a powerful electric winch which will help you to reef in less than ONE minute! All of my technical pictures remained on the boat! Let's wait for the New Year. Cheers Alain |

I have installed a staysail on an inner forestay om my Hanse 341.
The reinforcement for the deck attachment is in the anchor locker, se attached picture. ![]() The upper attachment is approx 60 cm below the Furler profile attachment. The stay sail is 12 m2 big. I am very happy with this solution. I haven´t tested it in storm conditions but the boat handles very well with the stay sail and two reefes in the main sail during heavy wind. |
